What are core.12356 files?

What are core.12356 files?


I just noticed a handful of core.xxxxx files on my server, each 3 megs large. I gather these are core dumps due to a huge script or server error? Can I just delete them, or should I examine them first? They're binary though.

you may remove it without any problem, but you need check your software or scripts because coredump is not normal situation.
