DirectAdmin is less demanding control panel when it comes to the resources in comparison to cPanel - but cPanel works just fine with 256 MB. Unless there's a specific reason to choose DirectAdmin, go for cPanel without a doubt.
jpetrov, dont forget that 256 is the guarnteed RAM.
If the server is not oversold you cvan burst to way more than that.
And yeah Directadmin is way less resource intensive.
I have a friend whos running 1000+ mini websites on a server and he reported about cPanel screwing up at that level. When he switched to DA, everything runs very smoothly.
