Need HSPHERE Help Please - Changing the MAIN CP domain...
Due to a slight change in our business plan we have decided to host using the domain DataColony.com instead of through our corporate site Rezilient.com - which will be more for investors and corporate info.
Currently we are hosting around 10 clients using the rezilient.com nameserver.
One thing you might try is setting up a reseller account for datacolony.com. If you have set up the resellers to have their own IPs and name servers the new customers (after the 10 you already have) will be set up on those name servers and will have no idea that the other accounts are there. The main system logical servers will be transparent. Check out Psoft's manuals on how to set up resellers in their support section of the web site. You might also try their forums if you need more help.
PS I would be weary of using the suggested servicezonerenamer because the link you listed said to only use on empty servers. I am not sure what it will do.
I never used that tool, but the page said it can only be used in empty installation. Probably, you don't want to use it.
>For example, what about my current clients who use ns1.rezilient.com? Will they be affected? Will I have to tell them all to change to ns.datacolony.com? Is there any way to leave existing clients on ns.rezilient.com but for all future clients they can use ns.datacolony.com?
Keep the DNS record of ns1.rezilient.com in your name server and registry. Then, there should be no problem. Both set of name servers will work. But I suggest you email them to change the name servers for easier management.
>Also what about mail.rezilient.com and mysql.rezilient.com?
You can log in to your H-Sphere database to change the name of logical server. (Table name: l_server) Then, restart CP.
>I don't mind if all rezilient.com instant alias domains are changed, because nobody uses them at the moment.
You cannot change the domain of instant alias for existing clients (or very difficult).
For future clients, you can go to "DNS Manager" and "Add DNS zone" for datacolony.com. Then, edit your plans to use datacolony.com's alias.
>Currently all logical servers are sharing the same IP address. I'd like to change this so that cp, mail, sql, web, ns1, ns2 all use separate IP addresses.
For mail, sql, ns1 and ns2, you can just remove the service IP and then add another IP address. (Also, you need to update your DNS records in "DNS Manager" for datacolony.com and rezilient.com.) Then, run DNS creator to re-create your DNS.
For mail, you need to set the "outgoingip" in "Mail Servers".
