I'm trying to find a partner for my business that specializes in the web design and developer aspect but I'm in search of someone within Southern Ontario. Any ideas as to where I could post? I did post a message under employment with WHT but all I recieved was post from India but I would much rather have someone in my own backyard if I'm offering potential partnership as I would need to have constant communication with them. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
I do not find the Internet is a good way to find a partner. I would actually go to look within your city. I have gained a recent partner over the Internet and one locally as well.
I can definitely say that the one that I meant local by picking up the phone has been better. Look at Site Point Forums for possible partners. There is always concerning web design and development there.
I agree 100% with what your saying Zach as far as searching for a partner over the internet as to the reason I want to find someone within my own backyard. How do you seach for someone locally though everyone I know that I would be interested in is either currently happy with there situation or is not up to my expections, or I could just simply not be seaching in the right places. I will definitaly check out Site Point Forums but any other information as to finding people locally would be appreciated as you have knowledge in finding a local partner.
It comes down to a lot of luck. If you have a something like the Chamber of Commerce like we do here that is a great way. They have many individuals who are looking for networking.
Personaly, I found a company or an individual who looked good and called them on the phone. Another thing is to task, state clearly what your trying to do, and do not give up.
I called countless Web Design Firms in the area. No one wanted to work with a start up. Until I met Kallen Design lead designer Kathleen. Her and Her husband Hugh run the design firm out of their home locally. It was interesting at first but it quickly became comfortable.
Pick up the phone, ask around, ask friends and family. All you have to do is ask.
I would also agree Zach that the best way to find a serious business partner is probably not over the internet, but someone you can get in touch with locally. I would say give it some time, dont hesitate to pick up your phone, also if you have any friends from college etc.. it be a good idea to ask them if they know anyone interested in it. Chances are you will find someone pretty quick but it's hard to say.
Good luck with your search.
