If it was only like $5 or something, sure. But if we are talking like $20, no.

No way would I pay. There are way too many alternatives out there than to pay to post/read WHT.

I don't think they will ever charge for membership either ...
IMO insane thing to do, theres a community here, communities stick together and migrate, they'd all just go somewhere else.█ Dan Kitchen | Technical Director | Razorblue

I would just go someplace else. Wht would not miss me and I would not miss wht. But, what I would not mind paying is optional membership that would include skin with no ads and no INET bar and stuff on the top of the page.

I don't depend on WHT for income either (maybe 5 customers or so from WHT personally) but I would glady pay a few bucks if needed.

I guess the real question comes down to _how much_ ?

I think if WHT charged in any manner, it'd actually get rid of a LOT of the fluff and kiddies, and more likely then not, actually raise the quality of the forum in general a fair amount (perhaps free to read, pay to post).
On the other hand, there are a few forum members (and I know theres no way to say this without sounding arrogant) that contribute to the bulk of the forums actual legitimate informational content. While I realise I likely no longer qualify at this, at one time, I feel I unquestionably did (and thus, I'd have to say, if people were paying for WHT, I feel some people should be *paid* simply to post).Myles Loosley-Millman - admin@prioritycolo.com

Nope, no way, no how. I tried the Premium thing... been there, got the t-shirt. I would not pay a dime to be able to read or post here.
That being said, the positive side would be that many of the Children and their "companies" would leave. But a few of the kiddies would stick around and keep up their appearances of being "big business".Don't you walk thru my words

The "Children" are only a problem if they make make one, and then they usually get banned. If they are young, and have their own business going on, why do you have to call them "Children" and "kiddies" as if they are doing something wrong?
I commend anyone under 18 who wants to give the industry a shot, and can actually manage to make a few bucks at it. If you're jealous they are stealing some of your business...well, tough.
If you're concerned that they don't provide the "Great Service" you'd provide..well.. tough break for the customer who goes with the "kiddie" who doesn't host well.

Sorry you are offended by my opinion. But at this point, I am set in my ways in regards to this.
Yes, even at 18, they are children, like it or not. Just for reference, I have a son that turns 18 in about 10 days. So I have some personal, as well as professional experience with kids. I was even 18 at one point... a while ago.
There are exceptions, but rare.

Meh, not offended, as much surprised. I was merely concerned with someone viewing all minors as "kids who shouldn't be in this market".
I feel that if you have to earn your buck somehow, and you're into the whole web hosting thing, why not give it a shot? I give young entreprenuers a lot of credit if they pull it off the right way. Some do, and I guess those are your exceptions.

my tupence worth.
If WHT charged to sign up, no new members would sign up! Would you pay to join a forum you don't know if you'll post once of a thousand times....I think not!
Look at the prices of those adverts...the adverts (as said before) have been useful....I don't really see why they'd charge for making account...though I do fancy one of those t-shirts!

I would not pay a membership. I think it's a bad idea anyway because they would lose ad revenue and page views.

I would actually be happy if WHT started charging a membership fee; it would be an excuse to stop surfing all day long and do something useful with my time!

Usually I get paid to post. So I'd have to raise my rates.
