Auto Invites

What do you guys think about auto invitations? What I am talking about is when someone comes onto your site and the little window comes up saying if you have any questions, please click here or Thanks for visiting! Click here to chat with our sales department. I am thinking (vaguely) or putting one up on my site, but thought I would get opinions of people who have used it in the past. Has it helped you out or just annoy your potential customers?

I say just provide a normal button for them to click on. I consider them as a popup and they annoy me!

I'm currently spending a lot of time reading through SW-Soft site and their chat popup is really REALLY annoying! If I want to talk to sales I'll click on the button provided.

I have all ads and popups blocked all the time. I probably wouldn't notice but if I saw one I'd leave.

I think I have decided against them. I agree. When I see popups it usually annoys me and I don't want to inflict that upon potential customers.
