    what do u think about orangefiber?

    as the topic suggests, anyone has experience with them?
    especially their network... since abovenet has been having problems and cogent has always been a no-no to me..

    do they utilize abovenet with failover to cogent or the other way round?

    Cogent has always been fine. It's the resellers that oversell that gives Cogent a bad reputation.

    My research on orangefiber show's

    single homed Cogent. I could be wrong. Raj'll be around to explain this for us.

    If I remember correctly, they were pretty adamant about not being single homed and I believe said that FO was wrong (showed incorrectly that they only peer with Cogent).

    Oh welll.... another OF thread.

    Make that Fixed Orbit *and* CIDR Report that would have to be wrong, and if they're both wrong i'm pretty certain no traffic except maybe some private peering is being announced outside of Cogent.

    Nothing wrong with that, they sell bulk Cogent which, from what were told, is no longer oversold. It's a decent market niche.

    It all depends on the product which you are getting from us, one of our AboveNET IP's is: 64.125.158.2

    However within 4 weeks(estimated) we plan to intergrate AboveNET into BGP for current pure Cogent customers as well.

    ah, that would be 127.0.0.1

    OF has a strong business model, I wish them well. All of the big boys ThePlanet/SM, EV1, others......that sell High BW solutions make no bones about being pure Cogentco.

    I hate to say it but a search would turn up a ton of information for you to read. They are great so long as you know what you are getting. Their network is not Internap, but if you need to send/recieve a lot of information for cheap, they're worth looking at.

    I've had a great experience with them;
    Game servers is a no-no
    file servers, streaming is great
    AFAIK, you can request a quote on abovenet, or cogent bandwidth
