Ever thought of just picking up and leaving?
Has it ever crossed your mind to just pack some of your stuff up and just drive to a new location and try to start a new life without saying a word to anyone you know right now? I know it is kind of mean to do, but has it ever crossed your mind?

I've done it on a few occasions. It is extremely refreshing, but can become an annoying habit.
It's a great way to never accumulate more stuff than you need.

I thought about it -- when I was 5 or so. Once, I actually walked out of the apartment building where we were living while looking for a house (we had to sell quickly and GTFO of there), just to see the reaction on my mom and sister's face. My dad didn't even care; he knew I wasn't going anywhere.

restlessness, boredom and dissatisfaction.
A change is as good as a rest, some say, and if there's no time for a rest then what's one to do?
I guess it's easier when you're young and can fit everything you own into a few bags and a box.

Tired of the scenery?
Take a 2 week or so vacation get back all new and refreshed, but you can't just disappear to a new location...unless you know no-one and have no responsibilities...▓ SkyLineHost.com

I'm not seriously actually thinking of doing this. It was just something that went through my head for a second.

Jesse_613,
Do it. Obviously you've put enough thought into it.
Just move, contact people one by one as you want to. But not a second too soon.
Enjoy!

I've taken a few vacations where I've considered just not coming back. But to be honest, life is really good right now, and I'm happy being where I am in the company of the people around me. The nice thing is that my line of work is mobile, and my fiancee is finishing her nursing degree next week, so she can work practically anywhere. I've talked with her about possibly picking up and relocating to wherever we please. This would be done with careful planning because I have business partners involved, and ultimately the decision would have to be made in such a way that nothing is compromised with the business, but we work together pretty darned well in that way, so no worries there.
But we have a really good life where we are right now, with the added benefit of family nearby (but not too nearby). I'm thinking second home in the South of FranceStudio1337___̴ı̴̴̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|̡̡̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡̡.__Web Design

sasha,
Now that's a bit unfair!

I did just up & leave.
I had a good job in the government, my wife had her own business and my 2 boys in a good school.
I had 3 good friends, loads of mountains as well for my rock climbing.
One day i just thought i have had enough.
Within 3 months we had sold the house and put everything in storage. Drove to France with no house or anything just a tv & a dvd player in the car. It was scary.
4 years later i run a succesful holiday business with her indoors, my boys are fleunt French and can run out in the garden without me worrying they will get snatched or shagged by a paedophile.
We are really happy and settled.
Guess What? - i am thinking of turning it upside down again and moving on.
Nothing like a challenge.

haha .. the question isn't whether I've thought of it .. but rather how many times per hour I think about it.
P.S. NJ would be heaven compared to a Canadian winter
