I posted a quick review on my site earlier. I would have posted it here, but I didn't think most would care.
The new PSP 2.0 firmware upgrade came out in Japan today. Some of the new things included were AAC playback support, security upgrades, as well as an included web browser. Naturally, being the 1337 g33k that I am, I decided to install it on my American PSP to see how things went.
The firmware installed without a problem.
The web browser loads FAST, much faster than the WipeOut browser hack that I tried before. This time around, an actual cache was included, so I could load some pages like Google in a matter of seconds.
Features include bookmarking, Javascript support, faster typing ( if I wanted to type in ".com", I would only have to go to ABC2 and hold X until I reached ".com", instead of typing it in, etc. ), saving images on the fly, and even tabs.
If I had to complain, the tab navigation seemed clunky with different colors appearing on top of the screen for no apparant reason, but it's usable.- Matt

Have you seen the clip-on, and external add on batteries available?
They are pretty good, with a normal + external, you can run down the normal, plug in the external, and play whilst charging your normal one over 3 times.

What's the browser like? How do you set it up? What actions do the buttons on the PSP do when you press them while in the web browser?

You get it by configuring your PSP to use an access point. Once that is working you just hit the update link and it will let you know if there is an upgrade to download.
I believe there is a site to download it from but just make sure you get it from Sony.
I didnt even realise this was out. Will be trying it tonight.-- Matthew

It's only the Japanese version that's out isn't it? From what I've read if you try and update a USA PSP it says you already have the latest version. So you then need to download the file and move it over onto the memory stick.

Well, it's region-free, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem

I thought it was region free for games but movies were locked to their region. This makes it good for me as we are the same DVD region as Japan from what I have read.

Remember, the file has to be placed in /GAMES/UPGRADE/ on the PSP, then executed
EDIT: I've been informed that it will say the file is currupt, but it will still runTrentTech

I'd take a few pictures of the web browser in action, but It'll be hard to make out anything with the glare on the PSP's screen.- Matt
