Can someone please show me exactly where I can post a "looking for a server" type of thread please. I have tried both the "Dedicated and Colo Hosting Offers" and the "Other Hosting Related Offers and Requests" forums but both times my post has been deleted.
I am not trying to break the rules, I read through the rules on my second try and honestly thought that "Other Hosting Related Offers and Requests" was the right place to post. But since that is obviously wrong, before I try again can someone please correct me.
Those sections are worded a bit...odd. The board is setup so a provider can not (or at least should not) directly send you an offer. It is best to post in the Dedicated section for what you need, what your budget is (please be as specific as you can) and the wonderful memberbase here will try and help you pick a provider from their experiences.
Thanks for your advice, but I am looking for a specific provider. The catch is that I am looking for servers in this dc that other users may be cancelling soon to see if I can get them transferred to my account (so I can take advantage of the old price point).
There have been many other posts from people who have servers available to transfer to the first person interested, so I did not think it would be breaking any rules to post such a thread.
Threads requesting hosting are not appropriate in any Forum Category.
Please use www.webhostingtalk.com/request or www.hostvoice.com, For more choices, see the current offers in the 'Web Hosting Offers' Forums; as well as checking the 'Find a Host' links at the top right that are relevant to the type of hosting you are seeking.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the Community clean.
So if you post a hosting request it will be removed by a mod. You may post asking for recomedations from the community but requesting offers is not allowed any where in the forums.
You should actually open a ticket in the HelpDesk for this. Just an FYI, we don't allow hosting requests, for shared, VPS, Reseller or Dedicated. It IS a tricky line to follow, and one that we're trying to clear up.
I think the host quote feature IS working over at www.hostvoice.com so you might want to take a peek at that.
