There is not such thing as Unlimited...

There is a phisical limit to everything. So never believe when a host tells you that.

Even if a dedicated server has unmetter data transfer there will be always a limit of how much data can be transfered by second.

the only way to exceed 20gb is to transfer 20gb of data. That can be using the FTP, HTTP, SMTP etc.

Every time someone checks your web site, or you upload a file using the FTP you are transfering data.

you have unlimited everything, you can't go over your limits. But there is only so much their server and connection can handle.

Run away from hosting companies that offer you unlimited transfer and storage!

A shared package will do fine. How many visitors to you have now? what is the groth rate?

You can always upgrade with your host if things get heavy.

    1) Dont pay yearly, start monthly and test how things go.

    2) If your site is new, try to make an estimate of how long it will take to grow. Maybe you can start with a hosting with 20gb of transfer and have the option to upgrade as you grow.

    3) Search in google and here for hosts, then make a thread asking for reviews. That always help.

    4) Stay away from hostings offering unlimited, sooner or later they will go out of business taking you with them.

Yeah just login to your cpanel and click web/ftp stats

it will show you how many visits you are getting monthly. Work from there.

Members and visits are differant so use that also.

    Good luck.

    Trag,

If you are using 2GB of transfer i think is save for you to start with a plan offering over 20GB of monthly transfer.

The storage space try to get over 1GB.

There are several companies out there that will charge your credit card automatically every month, you don't have to send the payment by mail.

It is really the best option to go monthly and more if you are planning to upgrade as your web site grows.

    Good Luck

    Trag,

For one as stated earlier there is going to be physical limits to any shared hosting solution (even dedicated servers pose limits but of course can be tweaked so to speak to allow less limiting but beyond that you still have the hardware limitations and the kernel as well).

In general these "Unlimited" threads are truely becoming "Unlimited."

Everyone is correct there is no such thing as "Unlimited" Bandwidth.

So far this month you have used a little over 2GB of bandwidth. If you were to transfer 100GB+ the host would probably shut your site down. Did the host provide you with a Terms of Service or an Acceptable Use Policy? Normally these type of documents contain the "fine print" of Unlimited Bandwidth.

If you site is also going down already than this is a sign that they are overselling to other clients as well.

However, in our efforts to promote good citizenship within the Internet community, we will respond appropriately if we become aware of inappropriate use of our service.

You may not use your virtual site to publish material, which ProlinkHosting.com determines, at its sole discretion, to be unlawful, indecent or objectionable. No, here no such thing as unlimited bandwidth or unlimited disk space. Company's who advertise/offer those features as part of their services have to be sued for FRAUD and misleading advertising.

    Best of luck!

No this is not a lot of space/bandwidth used. You should be fine on any plan that offers around 500MB Space, 20GB Bandwidth. Remember to allow some room to grow.

No your web space does not start over monthly. Your web space used is all your files. All of your html, scripts, emails, mySQL databases, emails, etc make up your web space.
