FTP help, please

Currently I have a dedicated linux server through iPower, their customer service and support sucks. My proFTPD has suddenly went out for no reason and thus has rendered my FTP down. I have attempted to restart my server, that didn't fix it (Though it took ipower 3 days to restart it ), after that I finally found the command to start the service manually and I attempted that and got this message:

- getaddrinfo 'www dot aurora-hosting dot com' error: Name or service not known
- warning: unable to determine IP address of 'www dot aurora-hosting dot com'
- error: no valid servers configured
- Fatal: error processing configuration file '/etc/proftpd.conf'

Now the thing about this is, I'm not as perficent as I need to be at this morment. This was part a learning experience for me so I could learn Linux and how everything operates. I didn't expect the spontaneous shut down of services for no reason what-so-ever. So I'm unsure of what to do. I've CONSIDERED recompiling but I'm a bit iffy on that, and if I do iPower can easily turn around and say I caused this problem (when I've never touched the FTP service on this server) and charge me $65/hr to fix it. I've checked the .conf file and compaired it to ones that were on proFTPd's website. It looks like everything is correct and it doesn't appear its corrupt, however I very well could be wrong. I also don't believe its the domain name it can't find causing it either (Thats not even a domain name on my site).

Any help is much appriciated and I think all that can provide it. I am new to linux however, but not to computers in general. So I apologize up front for my lack of linux knowledge and knowledge in this situration.

PS I had to put the "dot" instead of "." in the URL because the forum won't allow me to post URLs, even though its part of the error message, so just so you know it should be a "." instead of "dot" in the URL.

Many thanks!

Apparently didn't read thoroughly enough. It's thinking that domain is in there somewhere. Do a search inside your config file for that domain.. Are you using some sort of control panel?

I'm using Plesk. Plesk is showing that domain as not being there. And I've searched over my proftpd.conf file and it has NOTHING concerning any domain in it, its rather short actually...I would try to post it in the forum but I opted not to, I'm not sure what type of information it could reveal about my server that could compromise it.

LOL, I said the same thing initially, then reread after I posted: "(Thats not even a domain name on my site). " and thought better of it.. Funny..

I'm not even sure what was causing the issue. But put it this way, you and fitesun responded MUCH quicker then iPower. I'm still waiting on a response...I guess I'll go and tell them its been resolved. Thanks, both of you, for all your help and the time to reply to my request for help!
