Help Finding Webhost.

In July 04, I got a domain and hosting plan through e-starr.com. I liked the host. They had/have no setup fees, month to month paying, and a decent amount of storage and BW. (5 dollar plan: 200MB storage. 8gig BW.) The server worked well, along with good service. I decided to stop my hosting plan with them and leave the blogger world. So for about half a year, my domain has been dead.

Right now, I want to get another hosting plan. My domain is gonna expire early July 06. So that's about a year.

This is what I like: cpanal. 5-8 dollar monthly. month-to-month paying. no subscriptions. no setup fee's.

This is what I want: 4/5 GB of space. 100-200 GB B.W. Cpanal. I want it to support cgi, perl, php, all of that and more.

I saw bluehost. It has what I want. The bad this is, the 3 month subscription has a setup fee. And also the 12 year, is a subscription. I don't want to be locked in a bad host. I heard good, decent, bad things about them. If they were worth it, I'd go for it.

Shopping around would be a lot better then going into something a year. Is there a list of web hosts with no setup fees, no subscription, and also has 5gb worth of storage and 100-200gb worth of BW that you recommend? Or a web host in general that you recommend? I like cpanal btw

You may want to check out the Web Hosting Offers forum. There are a lot of hosts there that have no setup fees, and I'm sure one can provide you with what you need. Thanks,

Well, I am using some hosts that I like; one of them is Micfo. If you go with Micfo you don't pay any setup fees. They also give you 30 days free trial.
PS: you will need to pay a bit over $10/month to get the amounts of space & bw. you ask for.
Good Luck!

Looks like you are starting a new thread here.
Most hosts will give you database facilities.

I'm afraid Hostgator doesn't have any plans with 4/5 GB of space, 100-200 GB B.W. for $5-8 paid monthly.

I understand that plan fit your needs back then. What makes you think you would need 5GB of space and over 100GB of data transfer this time around?

yeah but hostgator's 3.5mb and 50kgb bw seemed decent and more reasonable.

different sites. flash. vids. photography. etc. enough space and bw to go wild with.

i'm taking the liking to site5 btw.

it also in the next year may just be a good idea to get to know some of the companies you like and to talk to them and trying to figure out who huffs a lot and puffs a lot

ask about
server loads
server uptimes
ips to ping
traceroutes
download test files

and anything thing else you can think of

With as much software there is these days for hosting, I am surprised at all that "setup fees" still exist for basic hosting. It's not like they are setting up a dedicated server for you.

xD yes. bluehost catched my eye. paid yearly. and not to many people recommend it. a lot of people seem to recommend site5. so it'd be safe enough to go into a year obligation. perhaps. ^^;

i'm surprised somewhat. i seem them usually on 3 month or month to month contract's. just a way to get money. e-starr doesn't ask for any setup fee at all. good host.
