My own personal server for rent

    Group,

I am looking into offering my personal server for rent and would like to know if anyone here would be interested in renting it from me.

Here is some of what this server has to offer, for full details please contact me direct.

    One HP Proliant DL-380 G3
    Dual Intel Xeon Processors 2.4 GHz/400MHz - 512KB
    512 Mb of Memory
Three (3)-146.8 GB Ultra 320 10,000 RPM SCSI Drives (Raid 5)
    Dual NC7781 PCI-X Gigabit NICs (embedded) 10/100/1000
Integrated Lights out Card with optional features license installed.
Server is capable of doing raid 0,1 & 5. according to the HP Smart Start CD.

I am willing to upgrade anything on the server for you in addition to what it already has but you would have to pay for the upgrade(s) components yourself. I cannot afford to do it for you for free.

I will repair or replace any component in my server if it fails at my expense not yours, the only thing i require you to pay for would be server upgrades beyond how the server is currently configured.

The server is physically located in a data center in Indiana, and the internet connection includes the following...

Williams Communications, Incorporated - OC3 Connection
UNCAPPED 100 Mbit connection and up to 330 GB of data transfer per month. (You are responsible for overage fees on bandwidth)
More bandwidth is available for a higher monthly cost.
    15 Static ip addresses.
Reverse DNS control panel accessable by you.

I am currenlty running Redhat Linux Enterprise WS on the server along with a copy of the Hsphere webhosting control panel with 25 licenses.

You may rent the server from me as it currently is setup with Redhat and Hsphere, or you may rent the server with wipped drives and start from scratch with your own operating system and etc.

With the integrated lights out card you are able to remotely install the operating system from your place with a broadband internet connection, as well as shut down, start up, or reboot the server as well as ssh into the server and other things through webbased control panel, it is all totally remotely managable by you. You DO NOT need the help of the data center what so ever!

I am looking to try and work with you on this, this truely is one very nice server setup and the D.C. service has been very good.

    Group,

One other thing I'd like to mention about my server setup is that in addition to the data centers ups backup devices and diesel generator in the event of a power outage, my server is locked up in my own 42 U cabinet and is connected to a rack mounted 950 watt ups device that will put the server into a graceful shutdown sequence if the data centers ups and generator should fail to provide power for some reason.

I honestly do not know of very many dedicated server companies that will offer you the convience of remotely managing everything there is on your server including powering up, powering down, or rebooting your server, or having ssh access and installing a complete operating system right from your own location remotely through a webbased interface without ever having to physically visit or ask the datacenter or dedicated server company to install your O/S or reboot your server for you.

Again if anyone is interested in renting the server from me please do not hesitate to ask me any questions you may have about this offer. It truely is a very nice server and setup, and I beleive the price i have in mind is a reasonable price for what your actually getting overall.

And if your looking to do Hsphere Webhosting the server has Hsphere already installed and ready to go, all you need to do is either lease my Hsphere licenses from me or you may buy them and then change the main domain name in Hsphere to yours and your ready to start hosting.

Also please keep in mind that I pay to maintain all the current components of the server, if something fails its my responsibility to have it replaced not yours, the only thing you would be required to pay for is your monthly rental price, bandwidth overusage, and any upgrades that you would request or require of me to do to the server.

I can be reach at the following.

    Email: [email protected]
    Phone: 1-708-334-5845

    Thanks

    Doug

Since nobody expressed any interest, I couldnt even begin to guess as to why no one would take me up on the offer or even ask questions about it but I guess maybe because it wasn't free?

Anyway I have decided that i will keep the server and use it for my personal use. Cant let a good thing go to waste.

    Doug
