    How to configure httpd

can someone suggest me httpd settings that will be suitable for a download server. The server is used purely for http downloads. It's been very slow lately, maybe reconfiguring it may speed it up any suggestions?

    http://www.acme.com/software/thttpd/

Read the README and INSTALL files for how to compile and get it running on most Linux systems.
    Basically:
    ./configure
    make
    make install

There are other options you can use to build it but these are the basic commands you need to use to build it.

I would suggest hiring a server administrator who can help you setup your server and also secure your server. If you are having problems setting up apache, there's a 99.9999999% there are going to be other areas you are going to need assistance with.

Like sirius said, no offense, but if you are asking a question this basic chances are whatever you setup isn't going to be secure. You owe it to yourself and the rest of the world to either spend some time learning the system OFFLINE, on a test system, or getting someone to set it up securely and properly.

Yeah I hate apache. I could never download over 200kbs. Now that I got a new program called abyss or something like that, I download at 600kbs
