Congress to add 2 months to Daylight Savings Time

It looks like Daylight Saving Time is about to be extended, and that has child safety and fire prevention advocates riled.

Congressional leaders of both parties have signed off on a proposal, being considered in Washington this week, to start Daylight Saving Time on the first Sunday in March and end on the last Sunday of November. They say it would save energy. (more)

Yeah, it is easier to just burn the oil rather than messing with the time.

I just do not understand why people continue to drag "common sense" in to these threads. Personally, I would prefer they leave clocks alone. BUT... on the other hand, with all those that want to conserver, it is a consideration as well. Dunno

I saw one quote about kids walking in darkness to school. I thought most kids' schools started at 8 or later in the morning. It's light by 7 am usually isn't it?

Mess up times to save half of one percent of our usage?

I think we need to stress standardized transportation and solar energy, first.

My school starts at 0720 and in order to get the bus, we have to start walking to the bus stop at 0640 (the bus comes about seven minutes later). Much of the year, it is most certainly not light at that time. Luckily, I'm going to be driving to school the second semester of this coming year, so I won't have to deal with a lot of that anymore (woo-hoo!). Nonetheless, I'll still have to wake up at 6:30 and drive to school at the crack of dawn (most of the year).

But what about WHT? Most importantly, what about web hosting? What is Amish web hosting?

*shurg* I can't scream enough 'leave the clock alone'. Whenever the daylight saving come, my clock are untouchable. (not including my computer). Instead of having class at 8 am, I come to class at 9 am on time on my watch.
In Arizona, there are no daylight saving.

I think that this is a fantastic idea. An hour more of daylight for an extra month. I hate when it starts getting dark at 4pm.
