    Connecting to (mysite) -> IP: XXX.XX.XX.XXX PORT: 21
    Connected to (mysite) -> Time = 125ms
    Socket connected waiting for login sequence.
    220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [TLS] ----------
    220-You are user number 1 of 50 allowed.
    220-Local time is now 23:11. Server port: 21.
    220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity.
    USER anonymous
    421 Unable to set up secure anonymous FTP

    Use pureftpd. Proftpd is not secure.

    Your problem is very likely that you don't have an ftp username. In pureftpd, any anonymous will be logged into /home/ftp.

    Not that I'm aware of, without modifying the source code of course...

    Yes, it's quite easy.
    You'll need to provide them with a dedicated ip address and then symlink the ip address in /etc/pure-ftpd to their /home/username/public_ftp

    No modifications of any source required - and will then allow them to login using 100% anonymous (without the @domain attachment).

    Note: You can only make this work for as many sites as you provide dedicated ip's to: Serverwide is a whole different monster to tangle with (and would be impossible).
