Suspended clients using MSN on the domain they do not own.

    Hello,

I have a client who still owe's funds to me for the domain names they purchased. I have suspended their free hosting account however I've realised they use an MSN address on this domain.

Can I, as technically the domain owner seeing as I paid for this domain, request that passport.net shut down their account? Or do this myself? Or is niether options available?

    Thanks again,

    James

If I recall correctly, you can't use "money owed" as a basis for holding someone's domain hostage according to ICANN.

What difference does it make to you if they have MSN on that domain or not?

    Hello,

The domain name is currently registered under myself.

The problem with them using a Passport account on the domain is people will contact this person thinking they are involved with the domain they do not own.

If I am to sell this domain name, then problems could arrise.

    Kind Regards,

    James

You're the owner of the domain in this case (as you stated above), so is it not your decision to allow someone to use MSN on this domain?

MSN doesn't have any legal obligations to shut down the person's MSN account for you. You might as well call their power company to turn out their lights, since that's what powered the computer they bought it on. You're better off calling up a debt collection agency. Or, if you're short on cash for that, I'd just write up a nasty letter and snail mail it to them.
