Looking for a Cheap but good Laptop?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...784530839&rd=1
Just looking for the best possible laptop atm, i got a budget of £530-£600 but would prefer it to be anything under then £530. The sony viao is the first one i found on ebay and there going fairly cheap but i expect the price to rise above. Is there anything wrong with the viao you feel above?
Also what are the 'Must haves' for a fairly good laptop as i would like it to be quick and good internet access along with being able to play a few decent games.
Cheers

I'm not sure how well the conversion ratio carries over, but is a Mac an option?
The only problem I can see with the above laptop is that it has a Celeron, which is a lower-end Intel model.

From what I have heard, Sony laptops aren't the best for portability. Meaning that the parts inside will break easily if moved around too much.
Haven't been on WHT for 6 years!

I've got one of the really small Sony VAIOs from a few years ago which has travelled the world, been chucked around in various bags and has still survived! It's never gone wrong once and must be at least 5 years old now.
I'm going to buy another one next month and in all the research I've done recently I've never seen problems with parts breaking like that. Where've you seen that?Steve

I am considering it but the only thing holding me back is i would have prefered a centrino chip

Yeah, Sony Vaio labtops are pretty durable, one of my relitives still has one even though she doesn't really take care of it (Throws it around). Very durable if it can survive her

RUN FROM DELL LAPTOPS. STAY FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : / I have a laptop from dell and the AC jack in the back of the laptop broke. They want me to pay $700+ for the motherboard and $110 for the CPU just because the prong on the ac jack is broken. GFG. Its like replacing an engine when the only problem with it is the damn alternator. STAY FARRRRRRRRRRRRRR AWAY!!!

Im using a DELL 700M that I got off of ebay, refurbished but without any problem, go take a look at that one. Centrino processor, make sure you get one with 1gb ram and extended battery and you should be fine.

He said GOOD laptops, not laptops that break after warranty and cost $700+++ to repair
