I am new to the Co-Location forum, I spent some time reading up on good locations for a few 1U servers which I am looking to setup in the very near future. I live in the Bay area, and I am open to any of the local cities (SF, SJ, Fremont etc.)
I am looking for a connection that is 1-3MB (upgradable) that might be unmetered (not imperative as long as this is negotiable), additionally it would obviously have to be low ping times with all the "networks."
I had links here, but forum would not allow me to link
I have heard good things from companies such as HE.net. ANyone here use them? Anyone have any good or bad stories with their Northen California Co-Location providers?
*Additionally, I would like to know if anyone has a good article/read on the current internet backbone and what types of connections they all have with each other.
There are quite a few colo facilities in all the areas you mentioned. You will need to settle on specific area.
If you are represting a corporate account, you might want to look at AT&T in Redwood City. We were at HE.net and another colo place (in Oakland, I do not remember the name), each for about a couple of month or so. We had significant issues with their facilities. Moved onto AT&T in Redwood City (Prices are of course higher). We've been there for 3 years and are starting on the fourth year now. We are very satisfied with AT&T.
