Question about AMD64 chip
why some AMD64 chip FSB is intergated into the chip while some FSB are 800mhz.
what's the different?

The Front Side Bus on all AMD64 processors is integrated into the chip. When you hear people refer to it as a 800MHz FSB they are actually letting you know that there is a 800MHz HyperTransport Link between the Processor and the Motherboard. On more modern motherboards, such as nForce3 Ultra and nForce4 chipsets the Hypertransport Bus actually runs at 1.0GHz.

ok. thank. it was confusing since i tho all AMD64 FSB are intergrated to the chip so the 800mhz is refering to cpu to mobo. would it make AMD64 FSB basically the same as Intel's P4 since their FSB is also 800mhz.

It is a "quad pumped" 200mhz bus

AMD64 don't have FSB per se. HyperTransport link in the CPU itself is supposed to be 1600mhz, though.

That's right, on the AMD, the memory transport is on-CPU so there is no need to go via the northbridge controller anymore, the CPU hits the memory bus directly. This, apparently, means that memory access is a lot faster and more efficient.
They say that the old FSB method of communication will run at 2.1Gb/sec where as HyperTransport will do 6.4Gb/s.
