    Kathleen:

My name is Mario. I have had a big problem with Hostrod for the past 9 months . I had two domains registered with them:

    urbanmixxshow (com)
    mixingthemusic (com)

When I was changing webhosting companies, I tried to contact Hostrod many times to change my DNS name servers. They never responded back to me. I tried to find out the number of Chris Appleby to contact him personally without success.

Early this year I found that my domain, urbanmixxshow (com), was available for purchase . I had to re-purchase the domain with Canaca, a more reputable webhosting company.

Just this week, I received an e-mail from Hostrod stating that at the end of July my domain, mixingthemusic..com, will expire. I have tried to contact them to let them know I want to get the log-on information to my domain to administer it. They have not responded. Have you or anybody else had any success with dealing with this scam artist?

    hostrod scam

    hi mario -

my name is barbara and i have had a similar problem with hostrod recently. Do NOT use them to renew your site. Do not let your credit card transaction go through as i did and now they own my url and have turned my webpage into a generic search site. (bzdesignstuff.com)

i tried to email kathy for any advice/info - however her post is from 2003. it looks like a few others have had similar bad problems with them.

i am having problems trying to email through this site, but you can email me.

Are any of these companies trademarked in Canada? AFAIK, you'd have to have some sort of establishment in Canada in order to register .ca domain names. If you don't have some sort of presence in Canada, anyone can register any of those domains...

A classic mistake, sadly, has been committed once more.

The truth is only ICANN-accredited registrars can truly register a
domain name. But in an effort to expand their business, they form
    reseller partnerships (especially hosting companies).

However, legal agreements force the partner registrar to refer the
end-user to the reseller first before stepping in. mixingthemusic.com
    is actually registered with enom:
