Co locating a tower case? in UK
Just wondering if any of the UK datacentres allow you to put a mini tower case in their premises? I imaging this would cost more though?
I've heard theres a datacentre in Newcastle, is that right? do they take tower cases?

Best just to drop them an email. All you can do is ask. I'm sure there would be space for a tower somewhere. There's datacentres all over. Some in Leeds aswell etc.

Matt

Poundhost (www.poundhost.com) and coreix (www.coreix.net) probably would since they have their own facilities.

I can confirm that for Coreix
1/. We charge the same for the colo of a tower server as although it takes slightly more space it uses less power per square foot and the racking equipment is cheaper so it all balances out.
2/. We accept any standard Midi ATX case or smaller.
3/. There are no specific requirements for the server via a PSU and LAN port.
From my knowledge points 2 and 3 are the same for most providers offering ATX Colo.__________________

Hi Alan, I hear you're planning to take more space in the DC from Tyco very soon?

Hi,
This is kind of off topic, but no, currently we have plenty of space left, we have an entire 15,000 sq foot suite. Perhaps you are confusing this with out network upgrade from 2 diverse fibre paths to 8 ?

There is DataBanx in Newcastle, just down the road from us. It's a nice small facility, but unfortunately I think it's rack only.
You're also pretty limited carrier wise as theres only Onyx and Easynet on site.█ Dan Kitchen | Technical Director | Razorblue

specific criteria - usually
1. will fit in their racks
2. comes with rails (or you pay for a shelf/mounts)
3. is safe /enclosed - open areas/fans etc can be a health&safety issue (you'd *love* to see some of the things people have asked us to colo)Rob Golding Astutium Ltd - UK based ICANN Accredited Domain Registrar - proud to accept BitCoins

Generally the small providers in the UK will allow tower co-location for equivlent prices to 1/2u. Anyone in central London will probably charge you for 4/5u as space is at a premium and that is the amount of space the machine is taking up. I would just concour with the reccomended data centre's above.
Cheers
