    Re-Direct/Subdomain problem

    Hello,

My friend a re-direct on our cpanel so that billing.mydomain.net would re-direct to mydomain.net/modernbill..

I tried deleting the re-direct, I terminated the whole account.. The website stuff went down but it still goes to /modernbill and I want it to stay at billing.mydomain.net

    Any help?

Subdomains rely on the DNS system. As stated clearly in cPanel: Note: Subdomains rely on the DNS system in order to function, which means that your DNS information must propagate throughout the different DNS servers on the Internet before your subdomain becomes fully active. This process on the average takes a few hours.

Talk to your host...they should be able to manage this in the DNS control panel as BaselineAce mentioned. Without DNS setup properly, or having time to update as well, you won't see the change.

    Problem with Subdomain

    Hello,

I made a threat earlier and someone said this has to do with your internet, and it takes a few hours for subdomains to show up. My friend installed the modernbill on our webhosting, and I can see all the files in the FTP, but when I go to the install page, it keeps saying

    Not Found
The requested URL /install_v4 was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Is this probably becuase I need to wait for my ISP to read the subdomain, or is this another error?

This is entirely depended on how DNS is setup as well. If wildcard DNS is used, it should be near instant if this is a new subdomain never before used.

What control panel does your hosting company use? cPanel? Plesk? ...curious.

Also, most hosts update at certain intervals for their DNS cache internally...this may have played a role in this.
