I use to have a webhosting account with one of my friends, who had shared hosting ( 100 + clients on each box ). I had my ns1.mydomain.net and ns2.mydomain.net set to his IP's in the Go-Daddy cpanel.. I decided to get my own server, so now that im trying to setup the nameservers, it's saying "these names are already in use for the ip of the shared webhosting. Now I went to the Go-Daddy cpanel and changed the IP's and put my NEW servers ip's, but it hasnt gone though. I want to know if I'm doing this procedure correctly, and if I just need to wait for the DNS to change IP's.
>go to godaddy.com & login
> my account
> manage domains
> the domain that you ure using to make name servers
> click the + for domain host summary
> make your name servers and assign them your servers ips.
> add the nameservers in CPanel .. make sure you set this up correctly. Also ping your new servers ips. they might not all be binded to your server yet.
Yes.. I changed the IP already but I cannot add it on my NEW server because it keeps saying the nameserver is already in USE. I think I may have to wait like 12-24 hours or w/e for the DNS to change. Becuase in Go-Daddy it shows my NEW ip but it still goes to the old one..
yes they are extremley quick. within 2 minutes my domains are up & running. but i host @ theplanet and they are alot quicker at dns sort of things .... ntouch back in the day i usually waited 24 hours to get my domains working correctly.
