Chinese fonts.. can't install
I'm working on a video project that requires some chinese writing - so i went off downloading chinese fonts
I've downloaded them from multiple sources - few have worked and most have not.. getting message "The request file <location> was not a valid font file" However, there are so many failed ones that I've begun to wonder if there's any "windows requirement" i would need to simply install fonts? (just dragging into font folder)
Below is one of the file examples, any help is appreciated

where do you install the fonts, probably you will need some mapping in order for Windows to recognize .ttf file ext ?

I am using Chinese Big5 WinXP, and it has no problems.
Perhaps it is the conflict of English WinXP and the Chinese fonts?
Because I know English WinXP can't read Chinese file system from Network Neighbourhood, it can't read Chinese files off Simplified Chinese FTP, the letters are just messed up.

Make sure you are installing them! Move them to the font folder then I believe it is file Install font then choose the directory then the font. It then will install it.

It never normally installs just by dragging them in. Drag them in, go to install.....and it will say something about them already being installed. Ignore it, carry on and all will work.

I'm pretty sure you need some program to actually use the fonts. Unless of course you already do and it's just not reading the fonts you want? I've had that problem before but it worked fine in photoshop after I copied it from Word and change the font. I'm not sure if it's the same for ur video program.

I just installed Korean onto a computer, and for some reason, it is a beeeyatch. I forget how to do it and it is a pain every time. I also need the IME for office docs and email input, you might not. Here's a few other areas (for XP)...
START > CONTROL PANEL > Region and Language Options
(this used to be part of Date and Time - I think - so if you can't find it, look there or at the other icons, it's there somewhere)
Click the LANGUAGES tab
Now look at the lower half ("Supplemental Language Support")
and check the "Install files for East Asian Languages" box
(you will see a prompt)
Click OK, and the rest should be self explanatory. Now, this will install a Chinese font, though I'm not sure if it is the one you need, nor how many Chinese font choices this will give you.
