Hi all! We're using a dedicated managed server for our hosting services. It's running Plesk 7.0.3 (not Reloaded) and Perl 5.0.
(server OS: FreeBSD xxx.xxx.nl 4.10-RELEASE-p2 FreeBSD 4.10-RELEASE-p2 #0: Wed i386 )
Now we want to upgrade the Perl module to version 5.8 but since Plesk is also using Perl wont we risk killing Plesk in the process?
On the SW-soft website i found that Plesk 7 Reloaded and 7.5 Reloaded are tested with Perl 5.8 ([edit: argh cant post the url coz this is my first post ]), but nothing about Plesk 7 non-reloaded. Also, allthough it is tested with 5.8, wont upgrading to 5.8 give any other errors?
Any theories on this subject would be nice, experience with this matter is very much appreciated Thanks!
Have you considered upgrading to Plesk 7.5.3 (which does run fine with Perl 5.8)? I know sometimes there can be issues with the upgrade, but overall once it is done (and you could hire experienced help to do it for you) and settled, then you would be better off when it comes time to upgrade other packages as well.
