With the 2850, 1GB RAM, and 2 x 73GB 10k SCSI Drives, there was a Free upgrade to to Dual Xeon 3.0Ghz with 2MB Cache - pricing was below $1,300.... These are some great offers.

That's right. If you don't add RAID controller for $299, you can have those for only $1249 + tax !

Yeah, I was just pricing out another PE1850 but couldn't find any 25%-30% off coupons to combine with the promo that were active.

The last promo seemed a heck of a lot better.

BTW, those are 64 bit processors. Fired those same CPUs up the other day in a 1425 and they are 64 bit as well.

    Hi Pat,

I got my 5 1425 just yesterday, i have installed the 32bit centOS 3.4 and they all are running smooth so far

The reason i didnt install the 64bit linux (centOS) is not because of the concern of CPU may getting fried up, but because dumb idiot ZEND hasn't release a 64bit intel version for zend optimizer.

Their lower end poweredge 750 servers were on sale not too long ago, $285 for a 1U celeron 2.4ghz base system with 40gb sata, add $60 for p4 2.8HT upgrade. Not sure if its still on, but picked up 4 servers
