    * n00b Flash Question #1

    I've got this Flash template and I'm trying to change the default email address.

    I have the Movie Explorer thing open, and I've had much luck with double clicking some text and replacing my own. But now I'm at this place:

    actions for mail
    on (release) {
    getURL("mailto:[email protected]");
    }

    When I double click the mailto line it opens up the Actions panel... Where do I go next?

    Yes, a screen shot may help.

    If you click on the right panel where the mailto address is, it should enable you to edit it in the Actions Panel. If that doesn't quite work, try selecting up/down/hit to see if it will pop up in the Actions Panel to edit.

    That's odd. You should be able to edit it. I suggest that you ask whoever you got the file from, how to edit it.

    I double clicked it the mailto ,
    got a blank box.
    I typed in getURL("mailto:[email protected]");
    and yet, it still says test.

    Make sure you're able to edit it in the Actions Panel and not the movie explorer.

    * n00b Flash Question #2

    I've got this Flash template and I'm trying to replace something that appears to be a JPEG with my own.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...le/flash-2.gif

    I've tried changing the color manually using the paintbucket, but that didn't work as I lost the gradient and got 1 big red box.

    I tried copy and pasting the graphic into Photoshop, but it was a WHOLE INCH SMALLER WHEN I PASTED IT BACK!

    Then I tried to create my own red gradient, and failed.

    There must be a way to swap this stupid graphic out for my own.

    I understand, but there is nothing to edit there. It is empty. There is no getURL("mailto:[email protected]"); as suggested in the movie explorer.

    Hm. Don't know what to tell you. You may need someone to look at the file or get the person who made it to edit it for you.

    You could try the macromedia support forums on the main site or perhaps FlashMove.com.

    Good luck and let us know how you solve this oddity!

    I'll try.

    What I'm finding is that it won't let me edit any actionscript, period.

    What version of flash are you running? It could be that you need a certain version i.e. Flash MX Pro vs Flash MX

    Just click on the button symbol name "mail" and the actionscript should appear in the Actions panel.

    For the gradient, open the Color Mixer panel, it should appear there and let you edit it.

    I was unknowingly using a beta version of Flash 6... Now upgraded to 2004, I can rule the world!
