    Making a Perl script executable/pre-compiled

just as titled, is there a way to "pre-compile" a Perl script so that subsequent executions does not bother the perl compiler anymore?

the main reason is to reduce cpu load of compilation, I/O to load up the HUGE perl binary and ram usage (also due to the HUGE perl binary)

i've seen some other languages have such similar fashion

Perl comes with perlcc which will compile your Perl script down to C code; however it doesn't work well in my experience. Also, I think the executable size won't be too much smaller.

If it's web stuff, use mod_perl. Otherwise, write a C version of your code; as long as you stick with an interpreted language you're not getting around that.
