Do you find ethical to work with porn?
I know its 100% legal and there is nothing wrong with it
I received an offer to work in a site that has porn content and I am a bit aprehensive.. I just dont think it is 100% right working with it... While I see no problem watching it.. there is something inside of me that says I should not take the job..
Should I go for it or not? It is a good offer0

what kinda porn? Do they manage their company properly, and keep their records up to date?
I'm all in favor of porn. But, it really depends on what you're comfortable working with.0

You should never work with porn. I see something wrong with it.

I see nothing wrong about working with pornography as long as you feel comfortable about it. If possible I would give it a 2 week trial and if you still feel uncomfortable about it... give your 2 week notice.

Back to the original question, if you feel something's wrong, trust your conscience. I agree with ya, I don't see anything wrong with porn in and of itself if all participants are of legal age, however one must do what one thinks is right. I wouldn't work on anything that made me feel apprehensive because it might bring the quality of work down due to thinking about the ethical questions involved. You owe it to the client to let them know beforehand if you think your work will suffer and they will probably respect your ideals. Good luck and just do what you think's right0

Do these people have other sites in existence? If so, maybe you can get some idea of their behavior. If you visit the site, does it trigger a chain reaction of pop-ups? Do any of their links do that?

Sorry if i offend anyone, but i dont quite like the porn sites, not because of ethic problem, is because the spyware, autoinstall dailer and scripts that hijack the homepage are really annoying.

I agree, it would be a rare porno site that isn't connected to some kind of malicious behavior not even counting the issues of promiscuity and prostitution. Porn-hosting services like above.net and level3.com will deny that their clients are violating their outwardly stated antispam policy, but they know full well that the spam and the spamvertised referral site are just two layers of agency away from the principal who is their client.

I don't have a problem with it but my boss complains when I turn the volume up too loud, especially when I'm meant to be doing my TPS reports.

Gotta love that movie.
Anyway, back on topic -- if you don't feel right doing it, then simply don't. Its a personal choice. I mean no one is going to force you into doing the site.0

There's one thing I like about Singapore, we don't have to worry about ethics of working with porn, it is downright illegal down here.

just as an aside - the 'free porn' sites are the ones that usually have 'other' ways of getting money from you - popups/adverts. the ones you pay for are generalyl run in exactly the same as a subscription sport site, or news site or similar. you're paying for a service, and generally get that service. i know this not because i pay for lots of porn, but as someone that knows owners of large porn sites (so in theory i wouldnt have to pay! )

I see nothing wrong with it. I used to work in them. Made a lot of money and they throw the best webmaster parties.

Never..... enough sins already man....
Just the whole porn industry is just wrong. People know its wrong and they still do it. When someone enters the porn industry, they are afraid of telling about what they do... they would'nt be afraid if it was right...The harsher blame is on those who take advantage of it.... I wouldn't accept my wife, sister or mother to be a porn start, why would I accept it for others... maybe its just selfishness..

Burnin' and a' lootin' tonight.
Actually, that's just the song I'm listening to. On topic, I don't see any problem with working with or in porn, as long as it doesn't involve animals, transvestites, animals, or machinery.0

as many people have said on here, it is completly up to yourself whether you wish to host such sites. Make sure you point out sections of your TOS that point out you cannot have malicious software etc.
As for the porn industry in whole, i dont have a problem with it.
Ok you get the down right wrong stuff (illegal etc) however they are consenting adults.0
