The music that gets you going
I'm sure you all know it's not rocket science that different tunes and sounds can get a person all hyped up.
Most of these are contained within ceratin songs and are relative to brainwaves.
I recently discovered a few songs in my playlist that can keep me up and working for hours at a time.
A few years back I was working great while listening to Rammstein. But nowadays I work exceptionaly while listening to Buddha Bar and when needing to meet a deadline, Prodigy.
I've also discovered that know songs, what we might call commercial songs, don't have that effect on me.
So it's all just a matter of soundwaves stimulating some areas of the brain.
I was wondering, what kind of music can keep you working for hours, without distracting you? A specific song would be even better.
These days for me is Prodigy - Narayan

If I need to concentrate, then I love to listen to Beenthoven or Mozart. Right now I'm listening to Moonlight Sonata. So beautiful and sad just sends shivers down my spine. This music makes me think, opens up my mind and makes me work.

Purest love, deepest rest. Father God, I really love you.
It calm me down. It make each moment run smooth for me, as in I can really think when I hear a calming music.

For actual working I find music a distraction. For working out e.g. iceskating, I like some kind of rousing music (martial, spaghetti western, etc.). During the adult pubic session at Idaho Iceworld I have access to the sound system. A Windows program, Wavemaker III makes it possible to convert MIDI files to .wav files, so they can be burnt to music CD-R.
That reminds me, here is a MIDI file I downloaded a few years ago. I wonder if anyone knows what the song is supposed to be. I have it copied now to:
http://www.martingrumet.com/advent.mid
That is not the original site. Advent.mid is the original name. I kind of suspect it is short for "Adventure [something-something]". I first heard it as a background to a website advertising an M.B.A. program in Taiwan that was a link from taipeitimes.com. I also found it from a Google search on some Japanese site. I suspect that it might be a themesong from some TV program in Asia.

I have some songs that get me energized and hyper, but sometimes I'm in no mood to listen to such tunes.
~190bpm works. Happy Hardcore.

Even though I'm an old fart, 65 yrs, I get really wired listening to heavy metal. When I'm on a long drive I like stuff like "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC to keep me awake.
As far as rap, I absolutely hate it. It's not a racial thing, I don't care who's doing it or what they're saying it still sucks!!!!!!!!!

I can read books while listening to loud music.. so almost anything works for me.
I do best with very long songs though.

Since I'm an old man compared to alot here mine may seem ancient, but any 80s hair metal gets me coding quick. Especially the likes of Rainbow, Deep Purple, Whitesnake or lately any of the Kiss Alive albums.
{{ ps - an album was this round thing we used to put on something called a record player; kinda like a big, black, grooved CD where you had to move the playhead yourself. }}

When ever I have to pull an all nighter for maintenance or to finish a project I just loop my copy of the O'Jays' For the Love of Money. That always puts me in the right frame of mind and gets me going.
