need help with SSH
i am thinking about setting up SSH on my server for remote access.
i have no experience with SSH and would like some input from more experienced members here.
i need some information about how to install SSH, where to get it, what to get, what port, etc.
my server runs windows xp pro sp2, apache 2, mysql 4, php4, and perl.
although i believe theres a working ssh port for windows, you'd be better going the remote desktop route for windows.. a lot easier to manage. something like realvnc or similar
Check this url:
a good guid for installing sshd on windows
You should throw Windows Server 2003 on there, then you get a whole slew of fun management features, you could also always telnet into your machine.
Windows XP Pro has remote desktop capabilities built in
okay, i tried realvnc...that program is awesome, it does way more than SSH and is much more powerful and usefriendly. havent noticed any drawbacks with it yet. if anybody knows any flaws with realvnc, let me know.
