    iptables help

I saw that the tech issued this command:

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables stop

Seems like he forgot to start it again, do I need to type /etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables start to start it? Also, is it the same command as /etc/sysconfig/iptables ? Thanks.

If you have not rebooted your system then you may need to restart it. Some firewalls will restart it for you. You can also just do "service iptables start'

I started the iptables and my visitors have trouble connecting by FTP. So, I went ahead and restarted the APF firewall and now all seems fine.

Do I need to restart APF firewall in addition to iptables to avoid problems? I wonder what happened.

You normally do not go shuting down iptables. If you were having some trouble with it until you restart apf then do that Normally though just apf -f is all you normally will probably do.

Ok, thanks for the info. The tech stopped iptables for some reason, I think it was because he installed vnc server based on the history of commands.
