I'm interested on offering a site builder or my customers.
I still didn't decide which one (analyzing many of them), but I'd like to hear your oppinion on how I should offer it.
I have 2 servers with around 300~350 customers, so my idea is to offer the site builder to them for an additional fee. But maybe I could give 1 month for free so they can test it.
- Do you think I should offer a free trial period?
- Is there some site builder that would offer a free trial for me too, so I wouldn't lose if not enough customers are interested?
- Some site builders I see have one-time-fee licence... But I think it would be better if I had a monthly fee for my customers... what do you think?
- Since my 600~700 customers already have a site, do you belive some of them would be interested on the site builder?
Maybe if I tell them not to build a site, but that they can make their own site much better... don't know
(Wouldn't the free trial be bad in this case, since they could login, make a nice site and don't pay? Although it may be good if it have limited options)
Well... as you can see, I've many doubts
Thanks very much if you can share your experience or ideas
i think it would be best to offer it free on the higher plans, then paid on the not so high plans. This will encourage ppl who have little web building knowledge to go onto the higher packages. People wont not choose you for not giving you a feature like that on the basic packages.
For me, a sitebuilder makes more sense when trying to appeal to different market segments. So for new signups, I think a site builder would be very beneficial.

Strange, I got the site now. Sorry to jump in on your post.
As for site builders, soholaunch has been very nice. We have used psofts sitebuilder however it didn't offer an easy way to create custom templates.
Most of our users like the capability to update their site, however still want a custom look. Soholaunch only requires two tags in a regular html page to create a template. Then the customer can upload the template and images right into the site builder on their own.
We are offer it for free to all of our customers included with fantastico.
