    How to protect my redhat server from Dos attacks

    How to protect my redhat server from Dos attacks
    I have a redhat server with ensim and just suddenly i have been getting DOS attacks on the server, is there a way to protect my server, if so could you direct me to some tuorials that could help me or any suggestions you think i should do to stop this.

    PLEASE HELP.

    How have you determined that you are under DOS attack?

    I believe the answer to your question requires you do some research. Also, it will require the expertise of a Network Administrator to successfully thwart a DOS/DDOS attack.

    Depending on the type and amount of information being sent in the DOS attack it may not be possible to filter it out at your server. It really depends on how they are attacking you as to what you can do.

    If the attack is low bandwidth you can use iptables or apf, but if the attack is high bandwidth you need support from your datacentre / uplink, you need help of your uplink provider to filter the DDOS attack.

    You can install a traffic shaper.
    It will not disable dos attacks, but can help to win some time.
