Question: HyperThread and dual cpu

Hello, everyone,

Is there anyway I can tell there's two cpu on my linux box or it's just a HyperThread cpu ? I saw two cpus when 'top' on my linux box, but I am not sure it's physically two cpu or just a hyperthread cpu makes linux think it's dual cpu ?

thanks.

monster9,

Try the following: cat /proc/cpuinfo
via SSH - if it's true dual core it will say Xeon, if not it's just hyperthreading.

Hi HP-David,

it said "Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz" in cpuinfo, so it's just a hyperthread one, right ?

Thanks.
