ThePlanet - Fee to terminate without enough advance notice?

I heard that they charge you if you don't give early notice before you cancel. Is this true? if so how many weeks before?

It's a good idea to read the terms of service before you sign up for an account. It's also a good idea to contact The Planet directly with questions like this.

The Planet requires a 7 day notice (7 days before your next billing cycle).

I don't believe they charge a "fee" - but they won't refund your monthly cost (and they'll bill you the additional month).

    Read the TOS!

Yes, in that case they would keep that.

If you do not cancel 7 days prior to your billing date, you will be charged for the full month.

Service Cancellations must be submitted using the cancellation form inside Orbit (https://orbit.theplanet.com) at least 7 days before your next monthly billing cycle.

Not paying doesn't alleviate your obligation, under contract, to pay.

In other words...you can't just cancel your paypal subscription and say "Whew. I don't owe them anymore money now!"

Yes, generally when you don't pay for services...you stop receiving the services. That doesn't mean you don't still owe for those services.

Do you really think that a host would just keep on giving you free hosting indefinitely...just because you didn't formally say "Cancel this account"?
