had a nice forum on a server, then, server suddenly died, everything gone except for a 15mb phpbb_db_backup.sql file that i saved a few days back.
now, i have this new server and its got Windows XP pro, Apache 2.0.54, PHP 4.3.10, mySQL 4.1, phpMyAdmin 2.6.1, Perl 5.8.6, and ZendOptimizer 2.5.10.
basically, i want to restore that old forum onto the new server. it seemed easy at first, use the phpbb restore function or import db through phpmyadmin....however, the problem that quickly arose was that those 2 methods was limited to a 2mb sql file max.
does anybody know how i can get my forum back up again?
i will mention, i have shell access to the mysql server since the new server is located at my house. i don't know if that is of any help at all, but i thought i would mention it anyways.
if anybody can help me out, i would really appreciate it. the forum has been running for over a year and has over 6000 posts and i would really hate to lose all of that.
i have a few questions regarding the syntax used to restore via shell
can somebody give me the exact line to type in assuming the database is called forum and the database is called phpbb_db_backup.sql
also, for the username and password, are those the username and password for mysql when you installed it?
i know for phpmyadmin, i used the username "root" and "some password"
would i use the same username password combination for the command prompt?
another problem that i have is that the forum is using phpbb and the phpbb installation created some tables in the database. using the mysql command, can i still import the database or do i need to drop all the tables the phpbb installation created?
also, what is the difference between using mysql and mysqlimport
sorry, i'm kinda a newb with mysql databases. i really appreciate the people trying to help me out. if anybody can address my questions, i will be very thankful
