How to know if visitor gets website error?

I want to know how reliable my current host is. I want to know if my sites are down sometimes. I want to know if my visitors ever get "error" or Internal Server error. How do I know this?

Thanks

You can use Awstats to check the errors and use a site uptime monitor to control uptime. There are some free services like siteuptime.com and some paid like Alexa. Good luck!

Awstats is a statistics recorder/generator/etc., a lot of the time installed and readily available to you via your hosting panel.

It generates charts, shows you unique hits, all that fun stuff.

However, do you want to know if your website is down or something, and if so do you want it to contact you?

There are monitoring companies/software that will do this for you. The paid ones are quite nice (I love Alexa) but some of the freebies aren't bad either.

Yes, there are many others, too. Personally I use a thing called Host-tracker.

You can use siteuptime.com to monitor your website free of charge.

I'll second host-tracker. I get pretty accurate readings and they supply weekly reports as well as email alerts when the site is down and then another when the site comes back up. I find it extremely useful.
