Will these files be downloaded from one particular geographic area?

What kind of files will you be transfering?

If you don't mind me asking, may we know what movies we're talking about?

What kind of diskspace are you looking for with four fast transfers, you might find gettign a small managed server with a 100Mbps connection would do the trick. Some places do thease pretty cheap, maybe even cheaper that a hosting plan.

Go with a dedicated server or co-locate. A shared server is not going to suit your needs.

500MB movies. It's either pirated movies (no-no), pirated TV episodes (no-no), or worse, porn (oh no).

You need a dedicated server for that sort of stuff.

    What's your budget?

    500mb...
    Pirated DVDs - About 4GB
    Pirated TV Shows - About 180MB / 30 minutes
Porn (perfectly legal i might add) - Depends on distributor, usually 180 - 500MB

For 10/mo don't expect more than a handful of downloads or speeds of 20k/sec

    Yes really =/

Many hosts will offer you a lot of bandwidth for that price, but they are likely overselling by a very very large margin and will not be around too long. Now there is an option which I don't personally endorse, but I have talked to one person that has had some pretty good sucess with it, and that would be: http://canaca.com/

I would suggest you get a dedicated server or a pretty powerful VPS package.

If it's just downloads of movies then a really powerful VPS would not be needed at all, transfer and diskspace would be the only ocncern really.

You might want to try using Bit Torrent for whatever it is your visitors are downloading to save on bandwidth.

If your videos are worth it, then you could always charge a small amount for the download to pay for your bandwidth.

abercrombie_track, there must be a balance between budget and needs. You told us your budget, but you did not actually stated/estimated your needs (except fast file transfers).

How many such files do you plan to host? How many downloads do you expect per month? If you have 3 such files and they'll be downloaded under 100 times per month, you might be able to find a decent host, even with that budget. However, if you have say 20 such files and estimate they'll be downloaded a total of 500 times per month, only a scam host will offer (promise) you a plan to cover such needs for $10. Needless to say, that promise will be broken pretty soon.

Are these huge files illegal? Please specify that before anything else. If these are indeed legal files, you may want to increase your budget quite a bit for some quality hosting.

Why would they be illegal? No they are not. And also I plan on hetting a deticated server xp2400 1gig ram and i am going to run 2 cs servers off of it. And I was wondering if I ran a website off of it if it would lag the servers? And also how would i setup a website on a deticated server?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A dedicated server with AMD XP2400+, 1GB RAM.
    2x Counterstrike: Source servers.
    Doing 500MB/movie downloads.

This is too wrong on so many levels:

The "server" is TOO SLOW to run two CS gaming servers simultaneously. Most server configs run at 2.8GHz or, for the high-end, dual Xeons/Opterons.
1GB of memory is nothing for a server, plan at least 2GB.
500MB movies will continue to be assumed illegal because you have not told us what kind of content is included in them, and whether or not you have the rights to publish them.
You dont want to run 2 cs servers off that config and a website to. For one never run your website on your gaming server as it will lag it severly. And two make sure that the server is on a 100mbps min connection. You have to remember that your clients on your game servers are going to take up about 3000 to 6000 bytes per second if you cap them like you should in your sv_maxrate. Doing this will not lag your clients, but will keep your server from lagging your clients. You have to know what your transfer rate is upstream to them so that you can know the maximum number of players that you can put on that machine. So if you have a max rate of 150,000 to 200,000 coming out of that machine than the most slots between both servers you can reasonably expect to put on it will be 50 to 70 slots total depending on the what the transfer rate is. And this is with a cap limit on. So be careful when setting up your server and you will be able to have a fun environment to play on.

You never did answer the question... what type of movies will you be hosting?

$10/m is a pipe dream... you will never find reliable hosting, for what you need, for that kind of price.
