My current machine is just not cutting it when it comes to poly intensive 3DStudio Max scenes and I'm sick of waiting on it so much everytime I need to navigate through even a simple scene. I haven't built a workstation in long time so I'm not up to speed on what type of hardware should be in the machine.

I don't want to spend top dollar for the latest and greatest, but I would like something pretty nice. I have two 19" CRT monitors (flat screen CRT) that I would like to use.

Any tips? I was thinking Dual Opteron, 2GB of ram, SATA Raid0 or Raid1, but as far as graphics card, specific chips, motherboard, etc.. I am lost.
