Question Is Layered Tech the Cheapest?

    Hi guys,

I have been looking for a stable and buget server provider
and find LT seems to be the cheapest among the famous companies here.

I am wondering whether there is any other company
offer better price or same price but better speed to asia.

your suggestion and info will be welcomed

Price should be just one of many things you look at when deciding on a server provider.

If you find cheapest than layeredtech with great network, support and great people, let me know...

It is not always about the price. It is how they will deal with your problem if you encounter any. Fast reply and can change your hardware instantly if problem arise.

I see some of many problems when it comes to hardware and it needs someone to change the hardware asap to avoid long downtime.

Best for me is Layeredtech. You can also try liquidweb if you don't know anything about management coz Layeredtech is unmanaged.

It is always smart to go directly to a provider that has access in the DataCenter so that if any problem occurs, they can fix it right away.

    Goodluck!

The best I've seen is He.net.

Try to contact Jose from http://tailoredservers.com/ and see if he has available server in He.net.

    LayeredTech, for sure :-)
ManageMyServices was sold by me in September 2009. I no longer have any affiliation with this company.

hostworkz.com & isnnetworks are both cheaper than layeredtech in some cases, and are both resellers.

    Resellers of LayeredTech.

LayeredTech is one of the best unmanaged, budget hosts I have dealt with. Managed.com is cheap, too, but LayeredTech is much better on the network and support sides.

LT are probably the cheapest for the level of service they give. I have a server with them and like it but their speed in Asia as you said is pretty much non existent for me. So I started using servers in the Netherlands.

For Asia and if you need someone in the US then find someone in the West Coast like California and if not, you can always get a host from Asia which would give you the lowest ping results. However they would normally be more costly an option.

If you need ANY support at all I wouldn't recommend LT. It doesn't matter what you have to send to them it is a minimum of 24 hours before they will really fix the problem. Bought a new server that the HD failed on within hours of it coming on line, took them over a day to get the new drive in and get the server back up and running.

When I had my first server at LT in December, the hd failed and within 15 mins of the reboot failing they had diagnosed the HD bad and started the replacement, not bad for 11PM

Managed.com is cheaper than LT. But if you want a better support, go for LT

For good speeds to Asia your best choice is HE.net's Fremont facility. I'm looking for a budget server there too, haven't found one yet :p

Perhaps they were running short on hard drives? Gee, I can't believe LayeredTech doesn't have an infinite supply of everything (sarcasm). Just that one incident doesn't justify your comment that they offer no support. If you haven't noticed, a lot of negative posts about hosts on these forums are just 'jumped to conclusions' with nothing else posted to back up their claim. If I went to the book store, and they sold out of a book I wanted to pick up, do I go around saying to people that if they want ANY good books, I wouldn't recommend them? Sure in some rare instances where other factors contribue to the complaint but not because of that one incident.

he.net's prices dont quite match layeredtech unfortunately ($300p/m for 60GB/1200GB for virtual hosting)

I'm in Australia and was planning to use Layered. I just want to dish out dynamic web pages. I dont need high ping as I'm not a gaming server.

I'm assuming you guys need a high ping for gaming?

This is from HE themselves, right?

There are a few hosts with servers in HE's facilities, their prices are better. Not down to LT's level though.

Yes from He themselves. Seems very high for a virtual host, when LT is less than half that for dedicated. Then again virtual hosting implies management so that means more $$ even if less performance generally.

We have 3 servers through isnnetworks from LT, not only do we get great support from isnnetworks we also get great discounts. So i would recommend going through isnnetworks to get your dedicated server.

correct me if im wrong, but if your trying to get to asia you need to go through the west coast. Dallas adds another 40 - 30 ms hop depending on routing. I would try to find a West Coast Provider. Staminus.net is west coast. Sagonet use to be Unitedcolo who was west coast but not anymore now there in tampa

I am using LT since last 6 months.
    # Support is fantastic.. reboots within 10 mintues - tried upteem times during various time zone
    # Freindly people, even if you annoy them they will give freindly replies to your ticket
    # General support is also good - they take action and reply within an hour - tried durin various timezone.

only drawback I see (not really a drawback considering their price) is hardware replacement - it seems hardware replacement is done only between 6pm-9pm CST so if you are near this time and request reload etc then its quick or you need to wait 24 hrs. Again it was my experience in 2 occasions for others it may vary.

Overall LT is value for money - thats for sure.

I have been looking into Data Centers in Asia and I know for a fact that the support is normally better then in US datacenters. However, they are normally more expensive then in the US but "normally" have great connectivity with the US. One that I was quite pleased in terms of support was HKNet which is located in Hong Kong and iHenderson (cheaper) if you can bare with the bad english. HKNet is one of the best Data Centers in Asia. Give them a call, they are really friendly. At least I found they were.

    Good luck

  33. I used to be a HUGE fan of LT... I've been with them for about 9 months now, on 2 servers.

Unfortunately I can no longer recommend them:
