    A Weird Windows Update Problem

Just did a windows update for all software on my computer. It updated my windows messenger to Windows Messenger 4.7. I went from Windows Messenger 7 down to 4.7. How in the hell did this happen? It even looks classic

    Your lucky!

    I'd keep it.

It probably doesnt have all the junk that comes with WM nowadays.
Haven't been on WHT for 6 years!

I wonder why it elts me sign pn. I have tried installing 4.7 before from old version and it would not let me sign on unless I did a update to the newest version. I guess because microsoft is installing this for me it lets me login

Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger? Windows Messenger is no longer in production, or even updated as far as I know, Microsoft's sole focus is on MSN.

Nope, Windows Messenger is with Windows OS and is basically just the core MSN IM software, with nothing much added to it (which I prefer I might add). It has a very small memory footprint compared to MSN Messenger.

You have to manually download MSN Messenger on the other hand and it is full of crap and useless features etc and is also a lot more commercial (and money making for Microsoft). It is also very unstable at times.

Im still using Windows Messenger 4.7 and have no intentions of going up to MSN Messenger, ive had it loads of times and found it no better, in fact its been worse in some respects.

    Nope, try launching MSN Messenger.

    Start
    Run
    %systemdrive%\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe

    Does that work for you?
