    UK Windows dedi servers

    Hello,

We're looking at taking on some Windows servers and are looking for reputable UK Windows dedicated providers.

    Can anyone make any recommendations?

At the moment were looking at Donhost and Fasthosts.

    Thanks in advance.

    Definitely avoid Fasthosts.

We've done a lot of business with Catalyst2.com in the past who have an excellent Cisco network (Abovenet/Level3/Tiscali transit) and premium quality hardware.

Worth giving them a shout and seeing if they can come up with a suitable package for you.

    Regards,

i would say avoid fasthosts too - heard nothing but bad stories about them

there new 'never worry about bandwidth bills again' is a joke as they boast about how cool it is to hook your machine up to a connection with a similar capacity to that of an adsl line...

Donhost - generally a good reputation - have recently beomc part of Pipex

Are you after a budget windows servers or a more heavty-duty solution?

Well, we're not too sure! (if only Windows servers were as simple as unix!)

We don't know whether we need web edition or standard edition, whether we need mssql or what!?!?

We want some servers so we can install helm and sell onto resellers (we're getting so many enquiries).

Donhost looks good - a nice powerful server for 179 a month . . . but by the time you add on windows server standard edition and ms sql - you're looking at more than 350 a month

you'll need standard edition (and MS SQL server lience) if you want to run your own MSSQL server

however - most places should be happy enough to rent out individual ms sql databases for you until you can justify having your own ms sql server with them

Take a look at www.securahosting.com if you're after a top notch managed setup, or if you want un-managed then try www.webhosts.co.uk (Same people, different company).

They seem to have a good reputation and the prices are great. They only do windows hosting too so your sure to get decent support and advice.

We looked at them before choosing rackspace (which is another option for you) because we decided a linux solution would be better for us.

    But definatly check out netcetera
