I am incredibly impressed with the service that I'm receiving with Tulip Host out of Atlanta. I was a bit skeptical at first with the way-too-affordable pricing, so I'm hoping this review may help anyone that has thought about a lower-priced server from them, but have been a little iffy about the support and service that would be offered.
I've been managing servers for well over eight years, both onsite and offsite, and I'd say my experience level is pretty high.
The main thing I like about TS is the fact that they are committed to starting and maintaining solid, personable, first-name relationships with their customers. Maintaining is being the key word. This type of service and support is a large determining factor with me considering the runarounds I think every person in this forum has had with a company that only knows you by your IP address.
Speed, Uptime, & Network
TS runs an OC3 (155mbit) to PSI and a DS3 (43mbit) to level3. I've had no downtime or lag due to the network. They advertise a 10mbit shared connection. I'd say that 95%+ of the time, I can access a full 10mbit connection (~1.5mb/sec). Cisco from the distro to the racks.
TS has a fairly wide selection of setups - both Intel and AMD (Dual Opterons ... mmm). If you ask, they may even have some sort of odd, freak-show configuration available. For instance, mine is a dual P3/600mhz machine.
My machine was setup the same day. They even downloaded and installed a non-standard operating system for me without even thinking twice about what they could be getting themselves into. Again, this goes back to their obvious commitment to developing good relationships with their clients.
All servers offer a full VLAN (8 useable), switched port, bandwidth monitoring from the switch, and a good chunk of bandwidth (200GB/month minimum).
Please feel free to direct any questions you may have at me; I'd be glad to give you an honest answer.
I've had a box with TS for the past 2 months and i must say, i've been quite impressed.
The network has been amazing, no outages what so ever. Support has helped me a lot, especially with, ugh, cpanel DNSONLY.
Ryan's always been around to help me with sales questions too
