My website (lamahange.net) is hosted at the wonderful company nethosted.co.uk. I'm very happy with them, because of their service and uptime and all, but my friend would like to get cheaper hosting.
How cheap can a website be hosted if these are the basic requirements:
- 90 MB of disk space (thereabouts)
- 6 Gigs of bandwidth per month
- PHP support (for the website and phpBB forums)
- at least 2 MySQL databases (30MB)
I've been looking around but I guess nethosted is still the one for me. Can anyone help me find a cheaper host though??
If you are happy with the service and support that your current company is providing, why would you want the hassle of switching hosts?
A cheaper price may be more attractive, but downtime, bad support, and just the hassle of switching is in my opinion not worth the few dollars you may be saving.
I am not saying that a cheaper host will give you any of the above problems, but there is many budget hosts who just don't live up to expectations. If you move to one of those hosts, you may find yourself switching hosts again sometime in the near future.
I am not exactly sure what your site's content is due to language barriers, but I have seen some community based sites do extremely well by accepting donations. Perhaps this is something you could do to help cover the cost of hosting?
Hopefully good service and customer loyalty will win in the end!
