    which is better amd athaloon 64 or p4 3.2HT

    which of those server is better for forums server

    I tested P4 3.2 with HT and it can handle load very well...

    I am not sure with Atlon 64 though but if you will ask me, I will go for P4 3.2 HT since it proven me already.

    P4 w/ HT. unless that AMD64 is dual core. otherwise i go with p4 w/HT

    in most cases of high I/O HT actually harms system performance, in the case with a busy forum (database) and thus a busy I/O subsystem I would either recomend the 3.2 without HT or go with the A64, in just plain mysql benchmarks the a64 will beat an indentically spec'd p4.

    I agree, we used to have P4 w/HT, but once we switched to AMD, even in 32-bit processors, we've never looked back to Intel P4.
