For the last three weeks there has been a problem almost every time I go to log in by FTP. It hangs after username. Then it usually times out. Occasionally I get in and it then takes 45 seconds to transfer a 2k file. Very occasionally FTP works completely normally.
I have tried two different FTP clients. Passive on or off makes no difference. FTP works fine with my servers with other companies, one of which is in Florida, another in California (I am in the UK). I have no problems with any other sites.
My CPanel page at DU has also refused to load completely on several occasions, most recently tonight, when I couldn't use it. I am on the Morpheus server.
FTP has been pretty much unusable for three weeks. Luckily I don't host anything very important with them. If there was something I needed to update each day, I would have been tearing my hair out.
I have been trying to resolve the matter with support. They keep asking for traceroutes. I don't see how this is relevant, seeing as FTP always hangs on the username, before the password. Plus my sites all load normally.
I gave my FTP details to a friend and she experienced exactly the same problems logging in tonight.
I am totally fed up with the situation and tonight I am arranging alternative hosting. I have managed to finally get into DU by FTP and I am downloading everything. However it occasionally fails on certain files.
To make matters worse, I accidentally paid twice in May. Originally DU said they would refund this. However, when the problems started and I began asking for a refund, they just ignored those parts of my emails to support and now it has gone into another month.
I have been with DU for 11 months. The support forums seem dead these days with no input from any users. I wonder what is going on? I know what my instinct tells me..
Yes I am definitely moving. If I can find a host that works. I have now tried three and they all failed to deliver on their promises. One, skilledhost.com, isn't even up at the moment. DNS problem LOL Glad I didn't stick with them.
