A company (I choose to not disclose this at the moment for it may ruin their reputation) whos been hosting my site has not contacted me in several months. I have requested to have my account closed and they said to email them back to confirm that I really would like to terminate my contract with them -- I did! It's been 4-6 months now and the site is still active and I'm still constantly being billed monthly. Is there anything I can do to actually close this account because 1. I'm no longer satisfied with their service. 2. Poor customer support. 3. Too expensive, etc.
I'm afraid that this issue might be brought up to any collection agency if I do not pay it. I actually do not intend on paying for a service that I had requested to be cancelled months ago. (I'm in Canada and my hosting provider is in the USA - not the issue). If this is brought up to the collection agency, am I able to dispute this?
It would cost them hundreds more than you owe them to send it to collections.
That certainly isn't something to worry about (and would rarely happen in this industry) and hey if they don't have time to cancel your account I definitely wouldn't worry about them actually trying to get their money (which you don't owe).
Just doublecheck that you're not on a paypal subscription that might be automatically withdrawing the amount every month.

I checked my Paypal automatic subscription and it's disabled and I have not been charged since I stopped paying for the service. I guess, I will just wait it out a bit and see what happens in the coming weeks/months.
I will email them again tomorrow and if do not hear from them within few weeks, I will post their website here to prevent others from subscribing to any of their service.
So your paypal subscription was disabled the whole time?? Then how were you paying them?? Without that subscription being set to them.. they have no way of getting your payments... unless you paid by a CC and they kept charging your CC..
My immediate concern wasn't actually them taking my money via CC or Paypal because I have confirmed that no automatic payment will/is set to be sent to their company.
My primary concern is them escalating this issue to a collection agency or other medium to somehow get my current owing for the service I had requested to be cancelled months ago. But since you guys have not seen this happen, I will take it that they wont also do this to my dormant account.
Thank you for all your help. I feel a lot better now. ^_~
